Reiki Symbols – Sehekey

The second symbol of Reiki – SEI HE KI. Its main values: “The key to the Absolute” or “Man and God come together ” . Vector illustration

Sehekey pronounced “Say He Key” is used for mental healing, accessing the subconscious and calming the mind. The translations mean “as above, so below” and represents Divine Source and human coming together. The use of this symbol is to address the emotional component behind physical diseases or energy blocks.

Using Sehekey for a Reiki Session

This symbol is a direct line to the other person’s subconscious or to your own and with this comes responsibility to be “clear” when using it.  If your mind is not clear, take some time before the session to ground yourself and reach a place of tranquility and peace to clear your thoughts.  You can also use your breath to reach this “clear state” by breathing deeply and on the inhalation repeating to yourself: “breathing in I claim my body” and on the exhalation repeating, “breathing out I still my mind”. If you are not able to clear your mind. DO NOT use the Mental Healing symbol on someone else as you will only confuse his or her mind with your own mind’s chatter. This symbol is intended to calm the conscious mind and allow the subconscious memories of pain or trauma to come to the surface and be released.

If you do not feel motivated to use this symbol during a Reiki session assume that it is not needed.

  • use to protect and purify self and others from mental control by drawing symbol over self or putting self-inside symbol
  • to protect your car, put it inside a Mental / Emotional Symbol, then seal with a Power Symbol
  • it will help to release negative attachments
  • use to guard a room from negative emotions or entities
  • It helps to release mental or emotional conditions, addictions, pain emotional, nervousness, anger, fear, depression, sadness by bringing them to the surface and gently releasing them.

2021

2020 has been a difficult year. Even if you, personally, did not encounter difficulties, you know people who did and probably still are. Lockdowns and restrictions on activities have affected our ability to enjoy the sunlight of spring, summer and fall. The snow and brisk cold of winter that is enjoyable on winter walks or snow shoes or Skis, simply did not happen for many of us.

Taking breaks into the countryside for a long weekend “to get away from it all,” and destress have not happened either.

Some of these restrictions have brought on feelings of frustration, anger and loneliness.

Now we have entered 2021, we all wonder what it will bring, we hope it will bring a sense of release and peace we have not felt for a long time. Above all, this New Year is loaded with expectations and hopes for a release of toxicity that surrounds us, we hope for positivity, happiness and a return to activities we enjoy.

I am not a fortune teller so I cannot promise any of this. No one can. But we can, with the help of Reiki, take time to bring into our souls the energy of the universe.

Take time to prepare the space where you will “Bring in 2021.” And, no it does not have to be done on New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, the following can be performed at any time of the year. It may also be done many times during the year to reinforce release of the old and engagement with the new.

Smudge or clear your space. If it is your home, smudge and/or clear the entire house. Go behind every door, into every corner, into every cupboard, under every bed, into every closet and space where dark or lower energies may hide.

If you are unsure of what smudging or clearing your space means, we have a separate blog posting for that.

If you are attuned to Reiki, you can now sit and take a moment of peace and quiet to engage with the energy. Still your busy egoic mind. Above all, if you have any worries that the mind is repeating over and over, now is the time to stop it and stop those thoughts.

Ask Archangel Michael to be present. He is always available and limitless in energy. Ask him to use his word and shielded to protect the session you are creating form interference by dark or lower energies, or any energies that try to disrupt the session.

Ask the Archangel to cut and destroy any etheric cords of negativity attached to your spirit, soul, aura, heart, or physical being. I am a bit more emphatic and ask that he cut and destroy the cords. These cords I see as being like the arms of an octopus complete with its suckers. They take hold and will not release. The source of the cords I am also not interested in being reconnected to in any way, shape or form.

At the end of this part, ask the Archangel to surround you with his protective energy and fill you with is pure white light.

Once you are quiet and engaged with Reiki energy, reinforce the connection with Reiki Symbols. Which symbols are available to you will depend on the level to which you are attuned?

Place your hands in Gassho. Gassho literally means “two hands coming together”. Dr. Usui taught a Gassho Meditation at the start of each of his Reiki meetings and is meant to be practiced daily by those who have learned 20-30 minutes each day either in the morning or before going to bed.

When doing Gassho, sit with closed eyes and hands placed together in front of your chest. Focus your entire attention at the point where the two middle fingers meet. Try to forget everything else. If your mind wanders merely observe the thought and then let it go. Simply relax and maintain your focus on where your middle fingers meet.

You may notice your backbone or your hands becoming warm however after noticing, return your attention to where your two middle fingers meet. If you must change your sitting position, then move in slow motion deliberately.  Maintain an upright posture and think that your head is attached to a helium balloon in order to accomplish this. You may sit also in a straight back chair or against a wall also.

Visualize the Reiki Power Symbol Hunshazishuneen pronounced “Hone sha say show nun”. This symbol carries the meaning of “The Divine Power in me greets the Divine Power in you to promote enlightenment and peace”. The direct translation is “The Buddha in me sees the Buddha in you”. This symbol transmits Reiki across distance, space and time and is used primarily for distance healing.

If you wish, you may use a finger of one hand to draw the symbol on the palm of your other hand, or in the air in front of you.

Bring your mind back to 2020, events, people, emotions, and things that happened. Do not dwell on the events, people, places or feelings. The important things is to recognize the negative feelings and any baggage that you are carrying into this New Year.

Concentrate on release. Release the negativity. Release the baggage. If it helps, think of release like spring cleaning the home. It is a time of clearing away things that no longer serve you.

Concentrate on 2021. Now si the time to make sure there is no baggage and negativity that has made it into the New Year. Be bold and think. The New Year is such a bright and bold, mysterious place that not even Oracles can really tell you for certain what it will hold for you.

Let the energy flow into your hopes, plans, and thoughts for yourself, those close and dear to you and your wider family and friends.

Sit still and allow Reiki energy to flow. Inhale it, and breath in the strength and energy of the universe and let it wrap around all that you feel is possible for 2021.

At the end of the session, draw Chokurey pronounced “Cho-koo-ray” is used to increase power.  The symbol means “current” and the symbol and its related words make a statement to the universe:  “Put the Power Here”.

The translation for Chokurey means “command to the universal life energy”.  The symbol draws energy around you and brings it to focus where you want it. The symbols should be made quite large with your palm over the recipient and then repeat silently the word ‘Chokurey’ three times. You can repeat the command while making the symbol or after you have completed it.

Chokurey is a curving sword, which makes space by penetrating nothingness and filling it with spirit or power. It is the great accelerator which directs and focuses power wherever used, repeating the work Chokurey increases the power.

Always draw the symbol once and say the name three times. The Power Symbol is the only symbol that can be used by itself and it is the activator of the other symbols. It opens up, brings in and seals the light. Draw it on the palms of both hands and the client before you start a treatment. When the treatment is complete draw it over the client to seal in the light.

The left-hand spin activates the immune system and creates space, which allows the light/energy to enter, with it you can send light to a person, thing or situation.

Close out the session after a few minutes of meditation on positivity and release of negativity. Do not close off the flow of Reiki energy, but think about it being an essential part of your essence, which flows throughout the day and night of every moment of 2021.

Thank Archangel Michael for protecting and overseeing the session.

Now si the time to drink some water and sit quietly doing something you enjoy, such as reading a book, listening to music or watching a movie. Avoid watching or reading anything “news” related until the next day.

Have a special and wonderful New Year – 2021!

Reiki II Sacred Symbols – Hunshazishuneen – Other Uses

Hunshazishuneen can be used for other purposes other than during a Reiki session. Consider the following:

  • It is the heavenly connection used to send absentee healing
  • Always draw the symbol once and say the name three times
  • It should always be used in combination with other symbols, especially Power Symbol which activates it
  • It always comes first
  •  Use to send treatments to past, present, future or to other dimensions
  • Use to tune into a person or situation
  • It accesses the Akashic Records life records of each soul’s many incarnations, karmic goals, debts, contracts and life purpose of each incarnation
  • Past life patterns and karmic debts can be uncovered and released using the symbol during hands on treatment

Prepare for a Reiki Attunement

Attunement is a very special event at each stage of your Reiki journey to Mastery, and teaching if you aspire to do so.

Attunement comes after a period of learning and experience with a Reiki Master, and Teacher.

Attunement is a very special event. It signifies your soul is ready to accept the greater connection to Reiki energy, and that your Reiki guides are welcoming you with open arms.

There will be changes in you as a result of Attunement. Do not underestimate them.

Preparation for Attunement is important, being prepared will help you have the best experience possible. Here are a few things to help you in your preparation. Some simple cleansing will encourage attunement energies to work more efficiently and create greater benefits for you.

Attuning to Reiki energy in large part is learning to listen to the signs and signals that your own body and higher Self is sending you. Being in the now and experiencing what and who is around you as well as what Reiki energy is communicating to you. Attunement at Level 1 is one of your first experiences of this.

  • Consider a water or juice fast the day before the Attunement Ceremony
  • Coffee and tea, as well as caffeine drinks. Reduce them, on the day of the attunement or eliminate them. The energy they create in your system will not be needed on the day of attunement.
  • No alcohol for at least 48 hours prior to the attunement.
  • Stop using sugary drinks, candy or chocolate the day before Attunement.
  • Cut back, and or eliminate all tobacco products as well as marijuana starting the day before attunement.
  • Meditate if you are meditating already, but do not try to start as this will place too much strain on your attention. If you do not meditate, spend time in silence.
  • Reduce or eliminate watching TV, listening to the radio, or reading newspapers. The objective here is to allow the worries and cares of the world, especially all traumatic events and happenings from your mind.
  • Sleep, give yourself time for rest and especially a good night’s rest.
  • Do not make plans for the evening of the day you are attuned. You can think of Attunement as a graduation ceremony, but it is unlike any you have experienced at school or college. This is a spiritual graduation and the changes it brings may cause you to want quiet and solitude rather than to go out celebrating. For one thing your spirit is open to changes and things around you. You want… you need to be in control of what you experience and with whom.
  • Release all worries, fears, anxieties, stress, jealousy, hate, worry, doubts. This can best be done in your quiet space/times referred to earlier.

Being welcomed into Reiki, you are allowing the Reiki energy to pass through you to Self, others, and contributing, beautifying and healing the energy of the Earth.

After your attunement you will go through a clearing process which may last up to 21 days whereby you may feel a shift within yourself (this may manifest a variety of different ways; cold like symptoms, increased emotions, deep calmness) however will culminate in a steady and balanced state of mind, body and Spirit allowing healing energy to always be flowing to you, through you and from you.

By extending great care in your choices that you make for your own physical body, emotional needs and spiritual sensitivities aids your ability to conduct Reiki energy optimally.

This post is intended for all levels of Attunement except for Master Practitioner and Teacher. Start with our I Student Manual

Reiki II Sacred Symbols – Hunshazishuneen

Hunshazishuneen pronounced “Hone sha say show nun”. This symbol carries the meaning of “The Divine Power in me greets the Divine Power in you to promote enlightenment and peace”. The direct translation is “The Buddha in me sees the Buddha in you”. This symbol transmits Reiki across distance, space and time and is used primarily for distance healing.

NOTE: There is an integrity requirement for doing long distance Reiki as there is for doing hands-on Reiki and that is to get the person’s permissions first. Distance Healing should never be done on someone without permissions, as they will feel it, and may not know what is happening to them and get upset.  Hunshazishuneen is a bridge between two worlds, transcending time and space.

Reiki II Sacred Symbols

Mankind has always sought to communicate, before words there were pictures. Pictures drawn on cave walls to tell tales and to pass on information. These were our first symbols. Symbols are a way of linking the conscious mind to the subconscious mind, or sometimes deeper to the super-conscious. We ‘feel’ symbols rather than ‘reading or thinking’ them.

A different part of the brain operates when seeing or drawing symbols. A symbol is Universal and needs no explanation. Lines and drawing set off a vibration unique to themselves; a vibration or change of current in the electromagnetic fields.  Soft flowing or circular lines create peaceful moods or feelings; while sharp squares or jagged lines create another kind of response. With highly advanced state of the art equipment, changes within people can be observed and measure.

Meditation on geometric forms helps us tap into the collective unconsciousness. Here we have access to Universal symbols that are not inventions of the conscious mind. They become a source of knowledge, such as those that appear in dreams, visions and psychic phenomena.

Almost all geometric designs, like spirals, cones, crosses etc. give off energies of various frequencies that have a molecular/electric influence upon the neuro-muscular system of the body.

You have a way to call those energies to you and to access the knowledge, help and healing contained with them. The Reiki Symbols themselves are not powerful or spiritual. But when used in conjunction with the Reiki initiations, they become useful tools for raising your vibrational frequency, directing energy and transcending time and space. Welcome them into your knowing; into your experience.

The Reiki symbols are sacred. Do not show or discuss them with anyone who is not Second Degree or above. Reiki is spiritual energy, which the symbols tune into.

Please refer to the diagram of the Level II Symbols and their sacred names. These are symbols that will be sealed into the palms of your hands and are your Level II Symbols. It is important that you draw the symbols exactly as they are and pronounce the names correctly. Please note the symbols taught by other teachers and schools may differ slightly, there are approximately 20 versions of Hunshazishuneen.

Death

Death

Is not just about the end of one’s life, but especially in the west, and with western Abrahamic religions in particular, that is the way it is regarded. In the simplest and easiest term, it is going to sleep and never waking up. Friends and relatives are left to manage unsettled affairs and dispose of the physical body, the container for the soul reincarnated into it at birth.

Death also means transformation, transmigration, change, change the things that are not working for you. It is the decision to leave your company to go to another or to start your own business. Death can also mean retirement, at the end of a long working life.

Yes, we may stay in contact with people we worked with but as their lives move and we no longer share the stresses and decisions of the working environment, we become less and less connected to them. Annual get togethers have smaller and smaller numbers of attendees until there are none, or, someone just doesn’t bother to organize it one year.

Most people would not refer to retirement, or leaving to go to another company as “Death.” But it is an ending and Reiki has a role to play in both the process that is happening as you move on to the next phase of your life. Reiki has a role in all the things you would like to end and the manifestation of what follows. Focus on the new, not what has gone. Do not cling to the old as if it were a crutch that helps you walk.

Accept what is to change and encourage it by focusing on the death of what is to go. Release the pain and resistance that is holding you down, holding you back. Now, we have talked of death and endings, but transformation into something new can also include the death of something no longer serving us. Remodeling a home would fit into this.

Now is the time to release… Now is the time to move forward.

Clear your space of negative energies. Smudge it with Sage, if you cannot do it yourself, as for someone attuned to Reiki, attuned to the Master Teacher level.

If you have a journal, prepare a new page and list the things that are to be released, all the things that are not working for you, all the things that have to die in order for you to move forward without any burdens. Immediately after that page, start a new age with all the things you want to manifest in your life. As the old ends, so the new must make itself present.

  1. Find somewhere that is quiet and you are free from interruption.
  2. Ask Archangel Michael to stand guard over you while you are releasing. Ask him to make sure there are to be no interruptions, no meddling, no interference. He will protect the session.
  3. Quiet your busy mind. Quiet the egoic mind.
  4. If you are attuned to Reiki, level 2 or higher use the power symbol Chokurei to give the session energy and empower your intentions. If you are not et attuned to Reiki, affirm your desire, and intention that these endings and new starts take place in your life.
  5. Open the journal at the page of endings. Use the power symbol Chokurei again give your intentions for endings… purpose. Place your hand on the page and see in your mind, in your spirit the endings taking place.
  6. Open the journal at the page of new beginnings. Use the power symbol Chokurei again give your intentions for new starts, new purpose. Place your hand on the page and see in your mind, in your spirit, the beginning of new things that you want to bring in to your life.
  7. At the end of the session, close the journal and thank Archangel Michael for standing guard over the session.

A few weeks from now, symbolically, the end of the month is ideal. Open the journal and look at the page of endings and the page of new beginnings. You can if you want tick off the ones that have come to fruition. I prefer to strike through the things that have ended with e black or red pen, and tick the things that are new beginnings with a green one. But you can use whatever is at hand.

Reiki Principles and Gratitude

The Five Reiki Spiritual Principles are that for today, I will not:

The Five Reiki Principles
The Five Reiki Principles laid down by Dr. Usui

Reiki Principles and Gratitude, for what we have and what and who we are just as powerful. We are all happy for different things in our lives. Some feed us emotionally, such as relationships and friendships, others are material things, things that allow us to do things, go places and be happy and connected to others and all the living things that come from Mother Gaia.

Gratitude is energetic, we become more grounded and at peace which shifts our energy both internally and externally.

If you do not see gratitude listed in the five principles, well, I see compassion as a synonym for gratitude.

A simple morning ritual that tells the universe you are happy, and grateful is simply to say “I am alright.”

Let’s see how to Practice!

Take a few moments each morning to…

  • Play with your pets, don’t just feed and water them, and clean up after them. They give us unconditional love. They need some love back. And, they need some gratitude for being the loving animals they are. We are fortunate to live with them and have them in our lives.
  • If you are attuned to Reiki, you may be aware of your guides, they are with you before birth and will be with you after you pass over. Tell them you are grateful for their presence and ask them to help and guide you through the day to come.
  • Make sure your family, your spouse, and children all know that you are grateful for them being part of your life.
  • Think of your health and wellness. All aspects of your health and wellness. If you can run do something dramatic such as run a marathon, or cycle a long distance, or swim, be grateful for the body and spirit in you that takes you to the places those sporting activities take you to. I used to cycle long distances, 100km or more. The journey and the places I saw were as important as the end goal. I was then and still am very happy with this wonderful body and all that it does to make those things happen.
  • Material things such as our vehicle, money and abundance are all important to us. They are expressions of our work and dedication, to our ability to manifest things that help us go about our modern lives.
  • Food and water, our home, the roof over our head. These are nurturing and sustaining us.
  • To be grateful for experiences life gives us. I will always be grateful for my experiences as a scuba diver, being able to see and do things the majority of people cannot, or do not know how.
  • Be grateful for the things that have come to an end. This can be anything or number of things that are meaningful to you. Sadness may surround your thoughts of a relative that has passed over but we should have gratitude for their lives and what they did and how they lived. We may have ended a job and moved on to another, but now is the time to be happy about the gifts that job gave us in challenges and opportunities to personal growth.

My last thought is for Reiki, it is part of my life, an enjoyable part and something takes my mind to it and every day, for which I am grateful.

In the end I am just grateful for all that I think of. The blessings you think while you close your quiet moment do not have to be all of the blessings you have; tomorrow is another day and you can think of other blessings to express your gratitude for then.
